Golden Dorado
RIGS HOSTED TRIP AT A GLANCE
Freshwater Destination Fly Fishing
Why a Combo Trip?
Golden Dorado, due to how they react to seasonal conditions, are one of those species that requires patience and planning. By booking a combo trip, you increase your odds of catching more fish. You also broaden your fishing horizons, seeing new riverscapes, learning new techniques, and exploring an array of prime Dorado habitats. This one-of-a-kind pairing allows anglers six full fishing days at our two premier Golden Dorado operations: three days on the clear Upper Paraná out of Suindá Lodge, known for its monster Dorados, coupled with another three days on the diverse waters of the Iberá Marshland out of Pira Lodge, known for its numbers.
7 Night Lodging & 6 Days Guided Fly Fishing
The seven-night program gives guests the ability to rotate lodges in the middle of the week. Begin at Suinda, and then transfer to Pira. Or vice versa. No matter where you decide to start, you’ll fish two of the most consistent environments for Golden Dorado that Argentina has to offer. Each guide has a maximum of 2 clients; this gives you individual time with your guide to improve your technique and get the most out of your trip.
Access to Premier Freshwater Golden Dorado
Freshwater dorado (Salminus brasiliensis) are often described as a prehistoric-looking salmon with jaws as powerful as a pit bull’s. A pretty accurate depiction to us. Dorados are also strikingly beautiful and extremely strong, and they jump like a Tarpon when hooked. All in all, they may claim the prize as the most exciting freshwater gamefish on the planet. Fishing at Pira takes place on a pristine 3-million-acre ecological preserve, one of the largest natural freshwaters. Fishing at Suindá takes place on the upper Paraná River. The “Río Paraná” is the second longest river in South America, next to the sprawling Amazon.

Our Outfitter
Nervous Waters is a leader in international fly fishing luxury destinations. Built around the best resource destinations, our lodges offer a level of service on par with the finest boutique hotels of the world, yet each shines with its own personality. The quality of our lodges is only surpassed by the dedication and expertise of the management and guiding teams, who have spent decades mastering their craft and their waters.
Consider Travel Insurance
Given the inherent strict refund policies associated with nearly all fishing packages, we cannot stress the importance of obtaining travel insurance to protect your investment. Travelers can obtain coverage for pre-existing health problems (related to yourself, your family, business partners, or your traveling partners), emergency evacuation, lost baggage, delay, life insurance packages; even “no questions asked” or “for work reasons” coverage.
“It is a labyrinth of rivers, streams, marshes and pools that are the hidden lairs of notorious fly-stealing pirates. Meet the golden dorado, a ruthless fish descended from some malevolent piscatorial order that does not surrender its treasure without penance.” ~ Chris Dorsey, Sporting Classics
