RIGS Fly Shop & Guide Service is always looking for talented, experienced fly fishing guides. While we have very low turnover in our guide team, we are always interested to learn what you can bring to our team.

Aspects that are important to being a Fly Fishing Walk Wade Guide with RIGS. 

  • A passion for Fly Fishing and a deep understanding of customer service is essential. Actively fly fishing, advanced understanding of fly fishing techniques.
  • The ability to assess clients, read people, and evaluate them for ability, strength/weaknesses, physical/medical conditions.
  • Read body language and access the state of mind of clients
  • Lead, inspire, and instill confidence (remember the more they trust you, the more they’ll learn)
  • Show interest in clients, communicate with clients, and inform them on and off the river of hazards to ensure their safety and enjoyment.
  • Manage time and trip to ensure that boats/people are off the river at the appropriate time, within company schedule requirements
  • Ensure the client(s) safety and needs are met while out on the water
Qualifications

Instruct fly fishing skills to clients both on and off the water:

  • Use verbal and visual demonstrations. Each client will learn in their own way.
  • Teach clients proper rod rigging, casting techniques and reading the water.
  • Teach proper netting & fish handling.
  • Explain safety instructions (wading across the river, etc).
