The super high water levels of the Uncompahgre, San Miguel, and Gunnison Rivers have finally started to calm down a bit, meaning that right now is the prime time to embark on your RIGS Rafting Adventure! Whether you are brand new to rafting or are looking for a bit more of a challenge, any RIGS rafting trip is bound to be an exciting and fun-filled adventure.
Here are some things to keep in mind as you plan for your rafting adventure:
- Not all rivers are the same. In fact, even the same river can be drastically different from day to day, due to rainfall or runoff. Rivers vary dramatically and can offer a variety of experiences and thrill levels. Make sure to have our knowledgeable reservation staff explain the type of river you will be experiencing, what will be physically expected of you as a participant, and how long it will take in transportation before you get on the water.
- You are a key part of your experience. It is important to remember that raft trips are not like Amusement Park rides. We specialize in true paddle boat trips. This means you will almost always need to be an active participant – but that is half the fun of rafting! Being an active paddler is part of what makes RIGS’ trips engaging and exciting. You will learn from your professional guide how to follow river commands, stay alert, and be ready for anything.
- Your raft guide is there to make sure you are having fun, as well as staying safe. Sometimes it may be difficult to tell because they make it look so easy, but rafting is a true skill. In the same way you would thank a waitress at the end of your meal, if you have had a good time, take care of your guide at the end of your trip – they work really hard to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable trip!
- Everyone likes to have photos of their special memories with friends and family. While many places charge a fee in exchange for trip photos, RIGS is unique in that we share photos of your trip with you for free! Just like us on Facebook and get free photos of your rafting trip.*
