The Lower Gunnison River

The Lower Gunnison River is the kind of river you think of when you picture yourself casting from a drift boat out west.  This section of the Gunnison is wide, big and filled with long runs.  The lower Gunnison River is fish-able year round and float-able as well.  The river fishes best from April through December.   Spring, Summer and Fall is the time of the dry fly.  Caddis, Stone Flies, May Flies and Hoppers dominate the river through out the summer months.  The River is best fished from a drift boat, this aloes you to fish  areas you don’t have a chance at from the bank.  Fish on the Lower Gunnison River are not small, the majority of the fish are big, fat and full of energy.  We offer several trips on the Gunnison River, both walk wade trips, float fishing, as well as drift boat trips.  New this year RIGS is offering an overnight drift boat trip which is becoming very popular.
